Welcome to Early Years

At Tudor we are committed to providing a warm safe and stimulating environment for all our children to learn and play together. We provide a rich range of opportunities and link this learning to themes that the children are interested in and excited about. We stretch and challenge the children by asking questions and providing new experiences. In partnership with parents we aim to ensure that our very youngest children at Tudor have an extremely positive and rewarding start to their school life.

Mrs Ince, and Mrs Munnings  are the teachers in Early Years. Mrs Harling, Mrs Gallagher, Miss Harvey and Mrs Russell are our Early Years teaching assistants. Together, we are the Early Years Team!

We have recently welcomed a super group of new children to Tudor! These little ones have settled so quickly into our classes and our routines at Big School. We hope that they, and their families, are feeling very proud!

We LOVE the Numberblocks in EYFS at the moment - they really help us with our maths learning. You too can get involved at home - have a look for their short programmes on Cbeebies. We often use these as a starting point in class. We have begun our learning just on the numbers up to 5 , but now we are starting to enjoy working with numbers up to 10. We can use lots of objects to help us with our counting, adding and subtracting too. the Number Blocks encourage us to do that! We have quickly learnt that Maths is Great Fun!!

We have, along with other schools in our MAT chosen to adopt the new Early Years Curriculum in 2020 - 2021. A link to the framework that we will be using for our teaching is below.

Now that we have all got to know each other in our classes, we are looking forward to an exciting second half of the Autumn Term. We know that our children love to be outside in our garden, exploring, discovering and having fun together. We have planned some exciting art activities that connect to Bonfire Night, and also we will be reading a super story called Beegu too.

This story will help us explore the night sky, and create some fun and friendly aliens and imaginary worlds. We look forward to hearing the children's own ideas based around this story.

As we move towards Christmas, we will be thinking about the traditional Nativity Story, and we will be acting this out too. We will find a special way to share this with our families this year.

Tapestry

Tapestry is an online learning journey which can be completed by parents and teachers to build up a complete picture of the child as a learner. Every parent has a secure login so that they can share their children's learning and play from home too. We enjoy seeing what the children get up to at home, and we are able to build on these experiences in school too.

Capture NELI(1)

All our staff who work in our Early Years rooms have completed some specialist training in developing children's language skills recently. We were delighted to be awarded this funding from the DfE, to enable staff to receive this additional training, and to supply us with some lovely new resources too! smiley
