Harvest Thanksgiving and Art Day

As part of our celebration of the harvest and thanksgiving the whole school enjoyed a day of art, ICT and craft activities. We worked in mixed age groups and the older children were excellent at supporting the younger children.

The children gave thanks for the wheat harvest, learnt about the pollonation and the work of bees and butterflies, made a leaf collage, a 3D bowl from leaves, a 3D string pumpkin sculpture, they enjoyed bread making, weaving, printing and painting. One group of children made some short animations using vegetable and fruit people!! They will be posted here very soon.

The standard of work was excellent and we hope you all take a few minutes to look at the work displayed around the school. Some photos are below but we will add more early next week.

Many thanks to everyone for the very generous food donations given for the Sudbury foodbank. We hope everyone enjoyed the harvest festival this afternoon at St Gregory's church.

Maths Activity.

This week's maths challenge!

Maths Challenge.

On Newsround this week we heard about 2 boys who had made a list of 209 adventures they wanted to do before they grew up.

How many summer holidays would it take to do 209 adventures if they did 1 a day, not using Saturday or Sunday and the adventure only took 1 day each?

What about if they only did an adventure on Saturday and Sunday during the summer holiday? How many summer holidays would it take then?

What if their adventures took 2 days each?

Plastic bottle tops!

Please can we ask you all to collect coloured plastic bottle tops for an art project we are all hoping to do this year.

Please bring them into the school office and we will start the collection!

'Opportunity Knocks!' day at Tudor School.

Thank you so much to all the local businesses and people who came into school today to talk to our children about what they do. The children had an amazing day being vets, nurses, chefs, explorers, farmers, therapists, police, recyclers, town councillors and students. Many of the children who came out of the hall after their activities and said they now wanted to become a vet or an explorer.

Our Current Value

Our value for this half term is 'Respect and Reverence''.

We will be thinking about how we treat each other and ourselves and how we show reverence. I regularly put updates about the value on the newsletters sent home and on the website.

Art Enhancement

Every Friday afternoon there is an art enhancement group which works in Layer Marney with Mrs Campbell. We are trying out real art techniques and enjoying the uninterupted time working on art projects. So far we have used wet on wet techniques to produce beautiful paintings of autumn tress with the wind blowing the leaves. They are all displayed inside our entrance rea. Please take some time to take a look!
